Material Weight on the Final
In the final information sheet, Dr. Lavelle said the "Final covers all material (approximately weighted to the amount of time covered in the syllabus)." Does this mean the largest percentage of questions will be on quantum then chemical bonding then molecular structure/hybridization? Using the same logic, do you think fundamentals, coordination compounds, and acids/bases will be covered the least on the final?

Yes! I think he meant the relative amount of lecture time we spent on a topic is going to be proportional to the amount of material weight a certain topic holds on the final and I think your assessment of this in the question is completely correct.

I think we can expect topics we spent more time on (like quantum) to have higher weight. But we should also expect a good amount of questions on acids and bases since we haven't been tested on it.

I think it will also be very helpful going to TA sessions/extra sessions Dr. Lavelle has set up because they have more information about the material breakdown and types of questions we should expect.

Definitely! I think that the more time we spent on a topic in lecture and the more problems there were on a specific topic on the syllabus, the more we can expect to see of that topic in the final. Hope this helped :)

I am also still confused about this..and it's honestly is making me stressed but hopefully my TA will be able to explain it more in depth during discussion.

I agree with this, I think there's gonna be a good amount of untested material on the final since it makes more sense for us to be evaluated on not only the most important/frequently lectured topics but also ones we haven't come across in assessments.
