Chem 14A Midterm 1

Postby maliamichelsen_3a » Fri Oct 15, 2021 3:18 pm

Does anyone know how the midterm will be structured?

Is it taken in person, over zoom, etc.?
How many questions?
How long do we have to answer the questions?
Multiple choice and/ or short answer?

Any help is appreciated, couldn't find much info in the syllabus :)

It will be taken online on respondus, but my TA said there are classrooms available to take it if you want to because of the quiet space. I believe if you choose to not go in the classroom it is still proctored so we will likely have to be on zoom. Pretty sure my TA said it was all multiple choice. Dr. Lavelle sent an email out about releasing more about the contents of the test by Tuesday at the latest.

I believe we are taking it in class so about 50 min, and I don't know if multiple choice or short answer, probably similar to the practice question he posted that he said would be on the midterm.

I'm fairly certain that the exam is just multiple choice!

Hi, the midterm is a 50 min test consisting of around 15 questions (what a UA told me) that can be taken both online and in-person. You have to install Respondus before you take the test which is found on ccle. Also, you are allowed a periodic table and equations sheet, but you have to print one out yourself.

How will it be proctored? I had experiences with using proctored applications and they don't allow for other applications to be opened. So will we be recorded somehow in some way? I have not taken the Respondus quiz yet...

The midterm will be in lecture, but it will be online and we need to download the lockdown browser called Respondus in order to take the test. The midterm will consist of about 15 questions which will all be multiple choice and will include mathematical and conceptual questions that will cover the fundamentals section and the quantum section up until electron configuration.

So I just used respondus to try out the question Lavelle sent and was wondering how to know if it’s correct?

Also I can’t find the equation sheet and was hoping someone else knew where we could find it?

Will lavelle and the TA‘s be doing in class reviews in preparation for the exam? My lecture videos are starting to pile since I just joined and I want to make sure that I am getting a hold on the information I need
