Have you attended? How often do you recommend going? Just for homework help?

Here is a link to the step up sessions! You can go as many times as you'd like. I've attended and they're extremely helpful.

Thank you so much for providing this! I'll be sure to look out for these step sessions, could you talk a little more about what you do there?

When I went to a step up session for the midterm, Emerald Wong did an excellent job of going over practice questions with us and showing us how to do it step by step! Then I was able to study the methods and equations which helped me a lot for the midterm.

How many step up sessions would you recommend going to? I definitely need to find different ways to understand the material and be ready for the midterm!

To my knowledge, AAP, Step Up, and Alpha Chi Sigma are all really helpful resources.

I feel the same way because I feel like this is my hardest class and I want to spend more time studying for this class than others. I think the best thing you could do is take an hour or two per day to study, just Monday - Friday, also making a whole pdf with the e-book problems so you can also study doing those which is also good practice for midterms.

Hi does anyone know if Alpha Chi Sigma will be doing another review session before midterm 2?

Does UCLA offer free tutoring? I know there are office hours etc offered through this chem course. But I like learning sometimes when someone is right there to help me 1 on 1 and they explain to me all the questions that I have.

Is there free Chem tutoring that UCLA offers? I've been trying to look for someone, since I am a better learner when it comes to fellow peers and having that one-on-one connection.

You can definitely take advantage of the AXS (Alpha Chi Sigma) co-ed fraternity/sorority free tutoring. I recommend this- it helped me review quite a lot for the first midterm. Did I mention it's free???

The peer learning sessions are also super helpful if you can't get a private tutor!

I personally recommend attending the PLF sessions offered by the AAP program! They've helped me with several other courses, including Chem 14A, the LS7 series and even the LS30 series! I always feel more comfortable knowing I'm in the hands of someone who has taken the course before.

Dr. Lavelle has so many great resources that I would recommend really going and working through before you consider paying for a tutor. However, if after going through everything you find that you still need help I would recommend applying for AAP so you can attend a PLF session as I believe others have mentioned. They are super helpful.

I would also agree with what others have said above about the PLF and the step-up sessions. The PLF sessions require you be enrolled in the AAP Program but it's really easy to apply and you can appeal if you are not eligible. The step-up sessions are directly related to class content.

I usually use PLF sessions for tutoring. They are a good resource and it helps to get to know others in AAP and in your class. You can then ask them for help and plan study sessions if you need it.

Is AXE still offering tutoring in Winter 2023? I saw the earlier post and am interested in participating in tutoring to review topics and make sure that I am understanding the material more.

I actually highly recommend the chemistry frat (Alpha Chi Sigma). They offer free chem tutoring sessions from a variety of students. Check out all of their info here: http://www.chem.ucla.edu/axe/tutoring.html

I remember a few people mentioning how AAP has PLF sessions? But I haven't found any on myUCLA so, I have to assume Lavelle provides other resources thankfully like 24/7 one, chem community, UAs, but does anyone know why AAP PLFs arent this quarter for Chem14A

Does anyone have any suggestions on whose step up sessions to go to?

Also, I've heard that frats offer tutoring services!

What I would recommend is to attend the step up sessions that are provided by the lavelle class guide.
