Peer Facilitated Learning Sessions
(Undergraduate Assistants)

Students may know the chemistry concept but still have difficulty solving a problem.
Ask any math related question. How to solve? Units, dimensional analysis, significant figures, etc.

These are small group discussions and Q&A (limited to 20 students).
If a group is full attend a different one.

For the session in Hedrick Hall, do we have to sign up or do we just show up? If so, must I be a member of AAP to sign up? Thanks.

Are the Peer Facilitate Learning Sessions for Chem 14A different from the ones in AAP?

Can we attend any days session?

Just to clarify. These PLF's does not have anything to do with AAP PLF?

So are these all just on a first come first serve basis?

I'll answer all these questions in class today!

Will the peer facilitators be holding any review sessions? (i.e. will the session be only in the form of Q&A?)

Will all peer facilitated sessions going on at a given time be about the same topic?

Or should we email the UA who is holding the peer facilitated learning sessions to see which topics they are planning on covering?

Since all of the sessions in week 1 are on the same topic, is it suggested that we only go to one a week? Or will it be beneficial to go to more than one?

What happens if more than twenty of us show up to a session? If this happens, can the schedule be modified to accommodate the most popular time slots?

In the chem refreshers, each person who was holding a session was focusing on a specific topic. Will these sessions be the same way? Or would they just answer the questions each student brings to the learning sessions?

The UAs will answer any questions you may have, as well as review a recently covered topic and work through some problems.

Would the Sunday week 3 session be this Sunday (10/9) or the following Sunday?

Would anyone be interested in reviewing this monday evening for our quiz next week?

Went to a peer facilitated session on Wednesday and really left with a whole lot more understanding than what I came in with!

Id really like to review for quiz 1! we should organize a study session on monday

Are they strict on what time we attend? Or as long as we are not disruptive is it fine to come late/leave early for certain sessions?

When my UAs introduced themselves did they look strict ...
Be polite to everyone present and attend as best you can.

Will there be extra PLF sessions during finals week?

There will already be 30 hours of UA sessions during 10th week leading up to the final, which is on Sunday, 12/4. Keep in mind that in addition to these sessions, TAs and Dr. Lavelle will hold regular office hours. On top of all these weekly resources, there will also be final exam review sessions held by TAs and Dr. Lavelle.

Just to be sure, are the learning sessions a weekly commitment or are we able to drop in for help any time we need? And if we're thinking of joining a group where can we find information on when and where we would meet?
