Hi! Is bruin cast only audio? When I click on the Lavelle's link for bruincasts on his website it takes me to a page where all the lectures are but only the audio is there.
Thanks,
Audrey

Yeah some professors choose to have only audio recorded. It just depends on the prof. Some feel more comfortable without visuals but with Lavelle's lectures, all of what he puts up on the board is for the most part covered in the course reader. I mean honestly the best thing is to go to lecture but if its not possible I would find a buddy to just confirm what you've learned through Bruin Cast with what they've learned in class.

Sorry no offense, but I requested all three of my lectures be Webcast and Podcast and UCLA Admin will only Webcast one class (due to limited resources) which is Lecture 2.
Therefore click on Lecture 2 and you will see both Webcast (video) and Podcast (audio).

Only a small % of UCLA classes are Webcast (video) because we are not an online university (and someone has to record every live lecture and post it online).

Come to class. Its the Real Deal!

But yes, my lecture 2 is Webcast (video).
All three of my lectures are Podcast (audio) because UCLA can record them with someone video recording (and yes I also requested it).

Also, if after you have downloaded Microsoft Silverlight and the Webcast still insists that you need to download the program, try using the Internet Explorer browser instead.

Best of luck.

Does anyone know if there is any easy way to get the bruincasts in a program/format that can fastforward the lectures on command? I prefer to watch things at a 1.5x speed, I find that it keeps me a lot more engaged, and I'm sure that more than a few other students feel the same way. The bruincasts are really great though!

I don't think there's a function on Bruincast that allows you to change the speed at which you watch the lecture. However, I have heard about students who I think downloaded individual lectures and then changed the playing speed on an alternate application. Hope that works for you!

As mentioned above, just download the lectures onto your Desktop and then you can set the playback speed on a video player such as QuickTime for Mac

Does Bruin cast work on an Ipad or Iphone?

The podcasts (audio) definitely work for iPad and iPhone, but I haven't tried out the Webcasts yet.

Will any of the 14B lectures be Webcasted?

It looks like Lecture 3 is the one that is Webcasted.

Also, in my case, podcasts work perfectly when I used Firefox instead of Google Chrome, Safari, and etc.

I heard that they will be and that it will be lecture 3.

Lecture 1 is Webcast and Bruincast.

Sometimes I'm at my best after 'warming up' for lectures 2 and 3!

Are there going to be chem modules for this class like there were for chem 14A with the pre test and practice problems? I found them really helpful last quarter.

There are practice quizzes at the back of the workbook before the practice midterms and finals of previous years.

I was unable to attend lecture today and I tried to watch lecture videos on bruincast but there were technical errors or the video just wasn't there. Is anyone else having this problem or is it just me temporarily? Will this be resolved or should I figure out another way to review the lecture?

Thanks

What has worked for me is to download silverlight if u haven't already and when the pop up comes up allow it to go. My lecture is only audio but sometimes I choose to watch lecture 1 or 3 for the video footage.

The workbooks of the practice quizzes are not turned in like those from last quarter correct?

There was also a recent post about this in the Announcements thread titled "Re: Posts", and a student replied to this question saying that they believe we wouldn't be doing that this quarter. If anyone could either clarify or confirm, that would be greatly appreciated!

Correct.

As previously posted, with ~1200 students it is too much grading in addition to grading five quizzes and exams assigning partial credit, etc.

I think the video posted for Friday Feb. 24th lecture is the wrong lesson. The video is a entropy lesson, not orgnic chemistry.

I have no control over what Bruincast does.

Everyone send email to: bruincasthelp@ucla.edu

Only Bruincast can fix Bruincast errors and problems.
For all Bruincast problems email: bruincasthelp@ucla.edu

I would suggest using maybe an Iphone or Ipad if it does not work on a computer.

Are there any differences between Lectures 1,2, and 3 other than the times for Bruincast?
