I think it's be best to sign up for AAP sessions before week 3 starts.
To sign up for AAP you can go to your myUCLA and under the 'Academics' tab you can find peer learning which is where can find several tutoring sessions. If you aren't sure if you meet the requirements for AAP you can visit Campbell Hall or call the office there.

Don't forget to use the 60 hours every week of peer learning sessions and office hours.

I am supervising 30 UA and TAs and meet with them 3 hours every week (in addition to many email).

I also see attendance. Some are very small groups and are practically one-on-one tutoring sessions.

Why pay for private tutoring when I have organized 60 hours free every week for my students.

Plus my class has Chemistry Community 24/7 for questions, answers, discussion, announcements, and even good humor! See jokes section.

They are usually every day for the week before the midterm and final exam, held by TA's and UA's outside of discussion section (independent). The times and rooms will be announced closer to the midterm date and final date.

To add on to all the comments already posted about the different tutoring programs offered at UCLA, I personally found attending TA office hours helpful. From the TA office hours I have been to, I was able to get a lot of my burning questions answered when I was not able to ask them during lecture or discussion. In addition, the TAs were able to personally guide me through the different problems.

I have been attending the step it up, workshop, and office hour style review sessions and honestly I believe those are better review than a tutor. The instructors are very good and explain things in an easy to understand fashion. Plus, you get practice problems and tips that are directly from the class. Hope this helps!

I would definitely recommend signing up for AAP's peer learning sessions as well as joining study groups with other classmates. There are many resources out there in addition to tutors. Peer learning sessions offer many study sessions so they are flexible with your schedules- they also do midterm and final reviews which are very useful when it comes to studying for exams.

Yes I totally feel that but honestly I felt more overwhelmed when I wasn't going to extra office hours or step up sessions because I felt so lost! I would recommend just setting aside one or two hours on the days you do not have many classes to go to an extra session for chem because they saved me for the midterm. Other than that though, I find it super helpful to write down a To-Do list everyday because it keeps me organized. :)
