Has the formula sheet changed?

Postby Lindsey Lill » Fri Feb 10, 2017 6:43 pm

Doing some of the old midterms, there are equations popping up that don't seem to be on our equation sheet, like ln K = nFE/RT. Has the formula sheet changed or something? It just kind of confuses me, I'm not sure whether I'm supposed to be aware of these formulas, and I can't solve the problem without looking at the formula used in the problem.

That's a combination of two equations equal to ΔG. ΔG=-RTlnK and ΔG=-nFE. They're rearranged and set equal to each other in that problem

What about delta S = nRln(V2/V1)?

That is in another practice midterm. We don't seem to have any formula to find entropy with variable pressure.

Also, I believe the laminated formula sheet for F forgot a decimal point. I believe it should be 96485.3, not 964853. I'm pretty sure the formula sheet given by Dr. Lavelle on quizzes had the correct conversion, however.
