Midterm Significant Figures

Postby madisonhanson1b » Wed May 09, 2018 12:42 pm

Hello

Does anyone know how heavily sig figs are weighted on the midterm? As in, if we dont properly use sig figs would an entire answer be wrong or would just a couple points be taken off for lack of sig figs? Also, if a problem uses an answer you had to obtain earlier in the problem do you use the sig fig answer or the full answer?

Thanks

So if we are not given any values what do we use as our sig figs, because I know there were some problems like that on the test.

I was adivised in the past if no significant figures are given within the problems to just use three sig figs in the answer.

The constants would determine sig fig.
