Accessing the E-textbook

Postby DesireBrown3K » Sat Oct 19, 2019 8:39 pm

I know that a few students bought the e-textbook instead of the regular textbook. I'm interested in buying that one instead but I don't know which bundle on the Macmillan Learning student store includes the e-textbook. Do all of them include the e-textbook or only specific bundles?

Hello!

I am pretty sure there is one option that should include “e-text” in the title. The loose-leaf one will be an actually paper type book.

Does anyone know what the Sapling learning thing is? I heard it was extra practice but I was wondering how to access it/what kind of practice it was.

If you purchase the E-textbook, you get access to additional resources.

Sapling is kind of like the launchpad for the LS7 Series on Macmillian, if you purchase the bundle that includes sapling that would be the online E textbook. I bought all of the bundle from Dr Lavelle's link that he had shared for about $190 and it includes the E-book, sapling, solutions, and loose leaf textbook.

If you buy the bundle and you can't access the e-book deven with the card they give you just call sapling learning and theyll give it to you because I had that same problem.

I bought my e-textbook as a rental on Amazon, if you download the kindle app this might be a good resource :)

Sapling isn't mandatory, but Professor Lavelle has put "multiple additional assignments and learning objectives for those who need additional assistance" which will definitely help you in any way possible, especially if you are struggling with a specific topic and may not be able to make it to some TA or UA hours.

I noticed there are some differences between edition 6 and edition 7 of the book, the first parts were similar but now it is become more and more different, can edition 6 still work?

sapling is similar to launchpad for the LS7 series, you practice problems and review concepts. It comes with the textbook lavelle posted on the site!

The textbook store is also offering exchanges of the Sapling online pass as there are some issues with accessing the course but the last day to do so is today.

The sampling isn't mandatory but it is highly recommended as it provides you with extra practice and questions that are useful to study for the exams.

No you don't have to buy it. It is another additional resource that you can use.

Yea, not required but it does help a lot. Shows you step by step how to solve problems.

If anyone has any issues opening the Sapling after purchasing it from the UCLA bookstore I called the company and it was really helpful. I just had to send a picture of my receipt and etext code and they registered my account for the class.
