Material provided in all Chem 14A/14B quizzes and exams

Postby Chem_Mod » Tue Feb 10, 2015 5:53 pm

All Chem 14A and 14B quizzes and exams have a cover page with constants and equations. See your course reader and workbook for examples. A periodic table is also provided when needed.

Only UCLA ID, a pen, and a simple scientific calculator that does not store equations and/or text is needed for quizzes and exams.

All other electronic devices including phones are not allowed.

No scantron is ever needed in Chem 14A and 14B. Otherwise it would have been listed as items needed.

Multiple choice questions are low quality tests.

would we need to memorize or know the mean bond enthalpies and the standard enthalpies of formation values for the quizzes?

I was told that all needed bond/standard enthalpy values will be provided.

Is there a pdf copy of the exact formula sheet with bond enthalpies that will be given on the quiz?

I'd like a PDF of the cover sheet as well, if anyone finds a link it would be much appreciated.

The cover sheets are pretty much the same all the time for quizzes and exams because constants and equations are given. See the cover sheet used in your quiz 1.

Are we only allowed to use pen on the midterm like we did on test 1 and 2?

It might depend on the TA because pen was not required for some TAs on the previous tests.

Anything you would want graded must be in pen.

I wonder if more quizzes In this course would make students study more throughout the weeks instead of before big tests like the midterms and final

Although you said only a simple scientific calculator is needed, are we still allowed to bring in graphing calculators? I have a TI-84 that I prefer to use but if another calculator is required I'll look for another for tests.
