Re: Curving in Chem 14A
I believe that final grades are sometimes curved depending on the distribution for the class overall, but I don't think Professor Lavelle has confirmed anything.

His syllabus says the class doesn't use a curve, but I've heard that it depends on the grades distribution at the end of the quarter.

There is a chance for a slight curve, but it’s not large enough for us to bank on it.

Re: Curving in Chem 14A
I've heard in the past Dr. Lavelle has curved the class so the average is a B-, but it's important to note that the class structure has changed since a few years ago (there used to be two midterms, now there is one, etc.) so this could or could not be a thing. I would say don't rely on a curve, prepare for there to be no curve.

Nothing has been curved yet, but I believe that in the past Dr. Lavelle has curved the final grades of the class.

So does anyone have an idea what the scale may be for each letter grade since a 50% is a C-?
