Final exam content

Postby Althea Zhao 1B » Mon Mar 09, 2020 9:07 pm

The document that Dr. Lavelle shared with us says that the final exam questions will come from the homework. Does this mean all questions will be taken from the homework, or will the format be more like the midterm?

If Dr. Lavelle makes his final similar to the 14A final, it will be similar to the format of the midterm. The test is most likely not going to be only made up of homework problems. There will probably be a few homework problems, so the outlines will give you a good idea of what type of questions will be on the test.

I believe that the final will have a format similar to the midterm. There will most likely be one question that comes directly from the assigned homework problems.

If you genuinely understand how to do all the homework problems along with the small detials he mentions in lecture, you should be fine for the final.

Sometimes a hw problem might show up on a final (like one did for the midterm) but the past midterm and test questions give a good picture of what the final will look like. hope this helps

The homework gives you a good idea of the questions but it is by no means indicative of the exam

Usually, at least one question from the homework will appear nearly word for word on Lavelle's midterms and finals.

The questions on the final usually are not all from the homework. Some of them will be made up, but you should be able to bank on the fact that some will be from past homework problems.

Emphasize the "small details in lecture"

I would also go through the outlines...sometimes there are things that aren't tested/asked for on the HW problems like theory questions about some specific real-world application detail that he went over in class...

I wouldn't count on the homework problems that show up on the final to be word for word. It more than likely will be the format of how the problem is and will be reworded. As long as you understand the homework problems, go over the midterm and tests and have a clear outline of the notes you should be fine!

The final will be cumulative, and I believe that only one or two problems will be from the homework, as with most of his other midterms and finals.

What document are you referring to exactly?

Honestly, due to the circumstances the test might not look like something we are used to (MAYBE IN A GOOD WAY)

I assume the final would be similar to the previous exams we have taken, where not every question is from the homework, but the concepts from the hw would be tested and a couple problems would mirror hw problems

I think the questions will be similar to the homework problems and the concepts will be taken from the homework, but all of the questions will not come from the homework assigned problems.

I think that says that on every exam file, I don't think ALL questions are homework questions.
