Re: Midterm Format
Although I am not sure, I am assuming it is open ended because my TA talked about how we miss points if we have incorrect significant figures, wrong scientific notation, etc. But you should email your TA about it to be safe. Since this is somewhat high level chemistry, I would prepare for the worst by studying for free response questions.
Re: Midterm Format
On the same note, what formulas/information will be provided to us, and what are we expected to memorize?

Re: Midterm Format
And similarly, are our TA's going over all the information and things we need, as well as like info on studying or are we kind of just on our own to figure it out?

Re: Midterm Format
My TA said it would be multiple choice as well. He didn't know how many questions but said it would be manageable for the 50 discussion time.

Re: Midterm Format
In regards to the equations provided, I think there is a sheet of equations on the class website. Those are probably the ones that will be provided.

Re: Midterm Format
My TA stated earlier today in discussion that the midterm will be multiple choice. We will also be given the constants and some equations we will need to solve the problem.

Hi! As said above, and I think in the first video, the constants and some equations will be provided, you'll just need to know how to apply/use them with the question. It'd probably be a good idea to at least familiarize (nearly memorize) yourself with all of the equations listed on that page (I believe it's called Constants and Equations, next to the Periodic Table), so you can easily recognize them/remember which ones need to be used when the time comes.
As for the midterm, I've seen multiple choice a couple times, but I haven't asked my TA yet, so I'm not sure.

I've heard that we are going to have a practice quiz in our discussion (that won't actually be graded) sometime before the midterm, so hopefully that will give us a more clear idea of the format and what will be provided.

Hi!
According to my TA it's going to be multiple choice. I don't know if that's finalized or not but it's what has been told to me.

Re: Midterm Format
Will the questions for the midterm be similar problems as the ones from the textbook?

Re: Midterm Format
So if the midterm is multiple choice, will there still be opportunities to get partial credit for showing our work?
