Chem 14B and Chem 14BL

One of the NSO advisors mentioned the possibility of taking 14BL with 14B in the winter quarter. Is this a good idea or should we wait until after we’ve taken 14B?

I'm also considering taking 14B and 14BL together but it honestly depends on what you prefer. I feel like it would be a good to take them during winter quarter, but you also have to consider how many classes you plan to take overall and if this is going to significantly affect your workload. I've heard that chem 14bl is an overwhelming amount of work and it would be better to take it separate from chem 14b. If you're unsure there are also bruinwalk reviews on what other students chose to take. Keep in mind the reviews may be precovid and online classes.

I've heard that Chem 14BL would be better to take separate from Chem 14B because Chem 14BL is easier after learning the material in Chem 14B. Personally, I'm taking Chem 14C and Chem 14BL together in spring quarter.

I think it is only recommended to take both of the classes together, but you do not have to. I was going to but with my planned schedule, I will have to take them in separate quarters.

I heard it's really hard to get both chem 14b and chem 14bl the same quarter. But regardless, I heard it's recommended to take 14bl after 14b because bl might have some topics that have not been covered in 14b if you are taking it at the same time. The curriculums could be moving at different paces. I think it is best to take labs after the course (14bl after 14b and 14cl after 14c).

I've heard through graduated students that it was better to take Chem 14BL the quarter right after taking Chem 14B. It might be harder to manage taking both in the same quarter.

I think Im going to take it together just because I happen to despise labs and I dont want to deal with it later on.

I am personally not taking these at the same time because I feel as though it would be overwhelming. However, if you have an easier schedule this quarter I would definitely consider it.

I plan on taking it after Chem 14B for the same reasons as others have stated. However, I believe it can be a good idea if you know you can handle the workload.
