I read one of Professor Lavelle's emails regarding waitlisted students for 14A.

He wrote that "All waitlisted students are always admitted in my classes. If you ware waitlisted, relax. Do everything as if you are enrolled (because you will be)."

So for my enrollment appointment, I signed up for other classes that did not have a waitlist. I just checked and all the lectures/discussions are filled and closed.

When there's a second pass enrollment, will I be able to sign up for the waitlist for 14B?

Does anyone know if 14B sessions will be recorded lectures as well? There is a fiat lux I would like to do, but it is at the same time as my chem lecture and I was hoping to just watch the chemistry lecture recording and go to my fiat lux live.

They are also recorded, so you should be able to take your fiat lux as well!

For our current class and 14B, the lecture times are listed as "online - recorded." I was wondering also if other classes with this caption are required to have the same asynchronous setup as this class and 14B, or if it depends on the professor!

All of my other "online-recorded" classes have live lectures unlike Lavelle's class. I'm fairly sure that all the asynchronous style classes are listed as such. Hope that helps :)

It only shows 9 lectures for me and all of them just say closed so I'm not sure I can even get on the waitlist at this point. Also, will more sections open up for this week's enrollment period? Winter enrollment will increase for second pass I believe. In addition, I think everyone from the waitlist also gets in.

I'm pretty sure that since Dr. Lavelle is increasing his sections, there should be a lot more openings, which means that waitlisted students should be able to get in without a problem.

I don't think you need a PTE number, they'll just change your status in the class to enrolled! I could be wrong though so just check in as it gets closer to winter quarter.

Check on myucla to find your enrollment time and then get your class planner all ready before hand. When it is your time slot you can enroll in two classes, and then two more a week later. That might be a tough quarter if you are already on track with your major I would just do 3 classes and focus on doing them well!

You can check the corequisites and prerequisites when enrolling in the class on the classplanner. I dont remember if there are any corequisites, but if there are you could try enrolling in that first and then chem14b.

I would assume that lectures will still be recorded for 14B since Lavelle will still be the professor. I'm not totally sure though :').

hi i had this same problem then i realized that there are other course requisites that are needed for 14B unlike chem 14A which are LS 30B, Math 3B, or Math 31B. you might not have got in because you haven't received credit for these classes yet.

Hello, I am a neuroscience major and was curious if anyone who is an upperclassman can give me advice in terms of planning for my chemistry series. With all the stem prerequisites, I plan on talking to an advisor but thought I should consult students as well. What is the most ideal way to space out the chemistry series while balancing the other prerequisites? Do I take 14BL with 14C? Would I fall behind if I took the classes spaced out? I just want to make sure I am not making myself fall behind by not gathering a general consensus.
