Naming on Final

I just saw in his lecture that we can only have a calculator, periodic table, and our formula sheet. Does that mean we have to memorize all the ligands on the Naming Coordination Compound sheet? if so, does anyone have any memorization tricks?

I would definitely memorize all of the ligands on that sheet, especially the ones that are more commonly seen. I don't know of any memorization tricks for this, but I would recommend looking at them a lot and doing practice problems with them over the next few days.

I wouldn't bother memorizing the ones that haven't been seen on HW or in a lecture, but regardless, memorizing them will help you answer questions quicker on the exam. Good luck!

It seems like the best strategy is to memorize the most common ones and more specifically those within the textbook problems.

I believe it's in your best interest to memorize the common ones. A tip would be to try and spread out sessions of memorization throughout your studying time, instead of trying to cram them all at one time.

Yes, I think memorizing them will be the best bet, but I'm sure that they will be kept relatively simple for us because we have to memorize!

We will probably have to memorize the names of the ligands provided on the sheet. It's also advisable that you know which ones are polydentate.
