Hi I believe it depends on your TA, I think you should check with them how they grade for the discussion points.

I believe as long as we post and interact with everyone here. It would be graded as a discussion point :)

Hi I just want to make sure if Professor Lavelle will have lectures tomorrow? Some of my professors are still holding their lecture so I want to make sure?

Hello, perhaps this was asked already, but we only have to do 5 chemistry community comments per week correct?

Quick question---is everyone planning on memorizing all the strong acids and bases before the midterm? I am planning to, but just want to know if others already know it or are planning to have it all memorized...let me know please!

Thanks for letting me know! I'll look into the schedule and attend the extra sessions at every chance I get!

For 14A, I think we had to memorize them anyway but I had Ow so maybe it's different. But it wouldn't hurt to spend an extra half hour to memorize the lists.

The sapling questions are graded so those are the most important, but the textbook problems are very important to ensure that you actually understand the material and are prepared for exams.

The Sapling Questions are more important because it's part of what is graded, but the textbook problems are something you should also give your attention on. I heard that Lavelle uses all examples for his exams.

I found both super helpful for the first midterm!! The textbook problems actually go through some really good problems/concepts that aren't on the Sapling, so I would recommend both!!

A constant‑volume calorimeter was calibrated by carrying out a reaction known to release 1.83 kJ of heat in 0.200 L of solution in the calorimeter (q=−1.83 kJ) , resulting in a temperature rise of 2.98 ∘C . In a subsequent experiment, 100.0 mL of 0.20 M HClO2(aq) and 100.0 mLof 0.20 M NaOH(aq)
were mixed in the same calorimeter and the temperature rose by 4.59 ∘C
. What is the change in the internal energy of the reaction mixture as a result of the neutralization reaction?

Can anyone help me with this question please

What lectures will be covered on Midterm 2? We won't need to know Week 7 lecture material for the midterm, right?
Also, the last two Saplings are the only ones relevant for Midterm 2 right?

yes, it should be all material we learned after midterm one. Lavelle will send out the exact info but it's all gonna be thermo stuff so that would only be the last two saplings yeah
