Sapling Assignments

Postby Uyen Trinh 3C » Wed Jan 06, 2021 11:32 pm

I noticed how there are assignments in addition to the homework without due dates on Sapling right now such as Math Review; Practice Drawing Molecules; and Chemical Equations Training. I was wondering if these are mandatory or just additional practice. If they are graded, how do we know when they are due. Thank you!

I'm pretty sure that they are optional and just for practice if you need it!

I looked through the optional assignments and one of them is just a math review. The other one is essentially a walk through and practice of how to write bonds in Sapling!

They're just for your own practice and review — don't stress about them :)

Hi, I was wondering if anyone knew if the Sapling questions were due this coming Sunday as in three days from now, or if it is due next Sunday as in a week and three days from now. I know Sapling says that the first assignment is due Sunday of week 2, but I did not want miss anything, so if someone could clear up what date is meant by Sunday of week 2, I would really appreciate that.

Sunday of week 2 means next Sunday as in a week and three days from now (January 17).

Those assignments are optional. The only assignments that are due for credit are the weekly Sapling assignments and the 5 weekly chemistry community posts.

For Alexis Sanft, Sunday of Week 2 for the Sapling due date refers to 1/17/20, so not the coming Sunday.

Sapling is mandatory homework, due dates are posted on there too. Textbook problems are optional and given as additional help if needed (they show up on exams sometimes)

Sapling is your graded homework assignment and mandatory. If you check the sapling website, it will say what week it is due. It's always due on sunday.

Those additional ones are optional but were helpful to me when I didn't know how to draw molecules, so they can help prepare you for future assigned Sapling problems.

Hi! Those are optional. I believe Sapling is the only homework assignment that is actually required and makes up a part of our grade.

They are only for extra practice, they are not mandatory!

They're optional but I found them to be helpful for Chem 14A last quarter in terms of review and getting used to Sapling.

Are the questions that say they are due the Sunday of Week 2 the only graded homework for this course? Is everything else provided just optional/recommended/extra practice?

These are just optional and are not graded. The ones that are graded are the weekly ones .

Even though they are optional, it doesn't hurt to do them! Any and all practice is beneficial for this class

Even though they are optional, I found that they really helped me understand bigger concepts last quarter so I would definitely recommend them. :)

So our only graded homework is the sapling homework assigned within the "Week 1" section?

And the optional work definitely helped me jump back into math and chemistry, but I am still struggling on some more complex problems

They are optional but they are good practice! They were helpful for me last quarter before the midterms/final.

If you need help with the math I highly recommend it. However, they are optional.

It is just extra work that is probably beneficial in the long run for understanding the concepts, but it is just optional. Our only graded assignments are the weekly Saplings, I'm pretty sure

Those are just one of the extra resources Dr. Lavelle has given us as practice for the midterms/final.

It would still be a good idea to do them, they're just optional though

Those modules are optional for the course. They teach you how to use certain tools in Sapling when answering homework questions.

Yes they were optional but they extremely helped me on the final in areas I was struggling with!

Does anyone know if Chem14c uses sapling because although I didn't really like sapling i Loved to see the solutions, it was really good review.
