Grading for Chemistry Community Posts

Postby Emily Langie 3L » Sun Jan 10, 2021 7:12 pm

Hi! I took 14A with a different instructor, so I'm not familiar with how posting and grading will work for Chemistry Community. Will the TAs be grading us on the quality/length of our posts, or only counting the amount of posts we have?

Thanks!

The grading is just based on quantity as long as you have posted 50 times by week ten you’ll get all your points.

^ This is also my first time taking Professor Lavelle. To clarify, is it 50 times by week 10 or 5 times every week?

Technically, it is 5 posts per week but I think the grading depends on the TAs. To be on the safe side, try to do 5 posts every week :)

Technically it is based off of 5 posts per week but some TA's just grade the total at the end/allow for late posts.

Hi! I believe it depends when your specific TA plans on checking for your posts but I would just try your best to do 5 posts/week so that you can use chem community as a resource for homework, study, concept help throughout the course rather than just cramming in random posts for points towards the end. Definitely have 50 posts by end of quarter though!

My TA checks for 5 posts per week, but you can always contact your TA and ask them since some do allow 50 posts by week 10.

As long as you post 5 times per week and have 50 by the end of the quarter you should be fine no matter how long they are.

Hi! It's the amount of posts. Also, asking questions count towards the number of posts/week! Definitely focus on doing the 5 posts/week.

I wouldn't worry too much about the content, I think the purpose of posting is to further your learning by asking questions you're confused about/answering other people's questions to help you understand it even better! We only have to post 5 posts a week.

Is the points for Chemistry community post updated manually by the TA?
