Study methods for exams

Postby WedaadDis3k » Fri Oct 15, 2021 11:22 pm

What are the best ways to prepare for the exams next week apart from the textbook problems?

Hello,

Besides doing textbook problems, I would suggest going over the notes or watching videos on any topics that you feel you may need help with.

Hope this helps!

You can also go to UA sessions and Dr. Lavelle's and the TA's office hours! This is helpful if you're confused about anything and they'll clear it up for you.

I recommend doing the modules and the post-assessments that come along with them. I also recommend attending office hours, step-up sessions, and UA workshops. There is also a practice problem on CCLE under the "MIDTERM 1" tab that you can do, which will be on the midterm.

One thing that I am doing is re watching some of his lectures. Like skimming through them and looking at some of the important parts. Hope this helps!

Active recall! Try doing exercises that make you pull out knowledge from your own brain instead of trying to consume information. Maybe rework old practice problems, write down questions you have about those problems, see which ones have connections to each other, etc. Try to make yourself think about the problem solving process as much as possible, but that being said, if there was something you still don't understand obviously supplement with watching lectures, etc.

Workshops are definitely my go-to. The schedule which is linked on the website shows how you could go to multiple each day. With that amount of extra practice I think you would feel pretty prepared for the midterm. It is also a lot better of guided studying compared to self-studying.

Hi! I think the best way to study is do practice problems and find which ones you're struggling with. Then, you can figure out which topics you should focus on when reviewing!
