Coffee Shops to Study at

Postby Bailey Herbert 2L » Wed Feb 16, 2022 1:57 pm

Hey! Does anyone have any good coffee shops (or other places) they like to go study at? I get nervous trying new places because I don't know if the wifi will be good enough to do work, etc, so I thought I'd ask here:) Thanks!

If you prefer to stay on campus, my favorite spot is Kerckhoff coffeehouse! The smell of coffee is great and it is usually pretty busy, but I like the have the background noise. It is somewhat hard to get a table though so go early!

Honestly, I really love sitting at the tables outside the Starbucks on Weyburn. I would recommend it if you like people watching & don't mind the noise!

I think the corner bakery is a great place to study! It hasn't been open recently, but once it does I think that would be a great place to try out!

I really like going to Kerckhoff Coffee, especially since there is both indoor and outdoor seating. Also, it's on campus, so it's convenient to get to (or stop by, if you're already going to classes).

If you don't mind going off-campus, Upside Down is a donation-based coffee shop with chill vibes and (as far as I know) good wifi. Hope this helps!

I really like UpsideDown in Westwood its pretty close (sorta by in-n-out) and its donation based so you pay however much you want to. There's wifi and the coffee is pretty good too!

On campus, you can go to Anderson cafe and get starbucks (ASUCLA meal vouchers work here too), but in Westwood I really like Upside Down or Bluestone Lane for coffee and to study.

uranus 27 is more of a boba place but it has outlets to charge your stuff + plays really chill study music! I recommend the butterfly pea tea! It's also relatively close to south campus

This is in close proximity to a coffee shop, but not exactly in there, but I like what's behind Dodd Hall because it's close to Lu Valle Commons and Jimmy's. If you want to study inside, Jimmy's is alright and almost always less crowded than Kerkhoff. There's plenty of tables around the area outside to study as well. The court yard between Dodd Hall and the law school is relatively peaceful and secluded as well.

My go-to's off campus are Elysee, Alfred coffee, and espresso profeta. There aren't a TON of spots with outlets but they're all pretty close so if there aren't spots at one of them I'll just walk to the next one.

Meet fresh is also a great place if you're fine with boba instead of coffee, theres a ton of outlets and good wifi.

I've tried most of the coffee shops in Westwood, and my favorites (for both coffee and ambiance) have been Profeta and Ministry of Coffee. Both have a good amount of seating and there's usually other people working on assignments too. Warning for Profeta--they don't have any outlets that are available for customers, so if you go make sure to come with your laptop fully charged (learned that the hard way)

One of my favorite places is Bluestone Lane. Although its expensive, the wifi always works, and the coffee and breakfast burritos are delicious!

MOC is super crowded always, but best coffee in Westwood by far!

The study is so great because you can go into the fish bowl and its noise canceling! Great for studying for long periods of time.

It isnt really a coffee shop by itself but there is the Northern Lights cafe on the south of campus its really nice there and there is a coffee shop in young research library which is near as well. I personally don't know if they're too good but the environment is pretty peaceful and quite, the library is not as crammed as powell.

I really like Jimmy's Coffee House! If you can get a seat inside it is one of the best places to study in my opinion.
