Do you always have to covert your temperature units the K all the time?

A good way to tell is to look at the other units you use in the equation. For example, the gas constant includes the unit, K, so you would need to use temperature in Kelvin's for the problem.

We don't have to always convert to K for every calculation in chemistry, but most of the equations we use right now have units that use K in them. The best course of action is to look at the units used in the equation/problem and adjust accordingly.
