midterm/final

Postby CosetteBackus_4F » Wed Jan 22, 2020 8:00 pm

Are the midterm and final structured the same way as the tests?

In my experience, the final and midterm are not only longer, but also feature more challenging application type problems. The tests are usually much more straight forward than these bigger exams.

the tests are usually easier, with the questions kind of mirroring the homework problems. The midterm/final is much longer and contains complicated questions, from my experience last year.

The midterm and final are cumulative of the topics we cover in class and connect multiple concepts while tests are condensed versions, covering less material.

The final in particular features overall concepts not just problems so while the test is pretty straight forward in their content the final is much more tricky.

The tests are more like the homework problem whereas the midterm and final have more conceptual questions

The midterm and final tend to be more extensive and cumulative so you have to make sure you understand concepts, not just memorize. The tests are good in helping you study for the midterm and final tho.

In addition, tests are worth 50 points while the midterm is worth 120 points.

I feel like I studied for the tests, midterm, and final the same way though. Even if they are structured a little differently, they're basically all word problems so doing the book problems and going over notes is still the best way to study.

The midterms/final are similar in the sense that the questions are sandwiched between an equation sheet and a periodic table. However, the midterms are harder overall as the questions require you master the subject or you will get the question wrong, as well as the follow up questions regarding the question. Essentially, not knowing how to do just 1 topic will heavily affect your grade. No pressure.

i find that the tests are very straightforward and math based questions, but the midterm questions are very implicit and challenging (in my opinion). you really need to know and understand the concepts to be able to solve the questions on the midterms and the final.

From my experience with him in 14A, the tests are much more straightforwards while the midterm/final are much longer and have more application type problems. Also, it includes more conceptual questions. They are much more difficult, in my opinion.

Midterm and final tend to have more application based problems, usually with some biological connection. It's good to have a solid understanding of all the concepts learned in class because you'll need to know which one to apply once you get to the exam, where you will most likely encounter a complex question that you haven't see before.
