Molecule shape

Postby Meghan Krushena 2E » Sun Nov 22, 2020 11:09 pm

So I understand the different shapes of molecules and their names, but I wasn't sure if the exact layout of the molecule matters. Like using a dotted line for distance and solid for facing toward us, can we change the angle at which we are viewing/drawing the model? Or are their certain molecules that will always have certain atoms facing a certain direction? Sorry if this doesn't make sense it is a little complicated to explain, I guess I am just asking if there is variation within each molecule shape or if each shape has an exact model that cant rotate or be drawn from a different angle (keeping the atom positions relative to one another the same)?

I'm sure there are many different ways to draw molecules. Much of the information regarding this will likely come with more lectures and knowledge about molecule shape, because we just began exploring that topic!
