Points needed to pass?

Postby kateraelDis1L » Tue Feb 09, 2021 10:31 pm

Hi, I am wondering how many points are needed (or how many we can miss) in 14B in order to end with a B? B-? C+? C? and C- ? Idk how to do the calculations so if someone has figured it out I'd love to know.
Thanks in advance ;)

I know that you can miss a maximum of 28 points to keep an A in the class (not A-). I don't know for the other grades, but you can use the syllabus and the point distribution and put that information into RogerHub calculator to find out what you need for your desired grade. Keep in mind the grade distribution in this class.

From what I've heard for this class, getting more than 200 points lets you pass the class. Basically, a 50% in this class is a passing grade.

I believe the syllabus says "50% or higher is required to pass with a C- or higher".

We need at least 50% of the points in order to have a C- in the class. I think the class has a total of 400 points this quarter so 200 should be passing.

I'm pretty sure we can miss 200 points to pass with a C-, since 50% is a C- in this class. I am assuming 320/400 points would be the minimum for a B-, since that is 80%, but feel free to correct me if I'm wrong.

You only need a 50% (200/400) to pass the class with a C- :>

I firmly believe that passing this class is entirely possible. with a B if you actually try howver. I calculated that literally getting half the points on every test would get you the C- anything else is just additional. then again making up for the points by just typing your heart out is also a good idea.

As others stated, you would need 200/400 of the points or 50% to get a C- and pass the class.

As stated above, 200/400 points will get you a C- which is passing, but I'm unsure of how many points warrant the other grades. 320/400 for a B- (80%) seems understandable though.

Yeah pretty much if you do the sapling and chemistry community posts you could easily reach the 200 points needed to get a C- or 50% in this class which is passing. It worked the same way last quarter in 14A.

Considering you only need a 200/400 you could essentially get a 50% on all the tests and still pass with a 250/400. This assuming you get full credit for sapling and chemistry community requirements.

Someone said you can finish all of the HW and Chem Comm questions to pass this class. Basically, as long as you try your best, you can pass this class. I would recommend trying on tests and quizzes since that might bump up your score, but otherwise, you can still pass. I hope this helps; I myself have sought consolation in knowing that I need not know the content as well as others to pass the class. May that console yourself as well.

You need a 50% (200/400) to pass with a C-, however, if you're doing P/NP grading, keep in mind that a C- is considered a no pass, so you'll need to get at least a 73% for a C in this class to get a pass.

From what I am aware, literally full points on the Chem community and maybe less than 90% on the Sapling, 50% on all midterms somewhat, and maybe like 30 points on the final and you have a C- the calculation is raw but honestly its well done,

I think you need 90% for an A- and so forth like what we were used to in high school, but instead of the minimum for a C- being something like 70%, it's 50% for this class. Lavelle never really explained grades, except for that a 50% gives a C-.

Yes, the prerequisite for Chem 14C is minimum a C- in Chem 14B.

With a C- you can pass the class and go on to 14C, but with a C- you get a no pass if you choose pass no pass grading.

Yes, I agree with what was said so far. A 200/400 would give you a C- in the course. Just make sure that it fits your grading type and that it wouldn't hurt your status for your major!

You would need at least 200 points to pass (out of a total of 400 points) since a 50% or higher is a passing grade for this course. Otherwise, standard grading metrics apply.

50%, which is considered a C- in this class. So you need 200 points or more out of the 400 available, which comes from 50 sapling, 50 chemistry community, 80 for each midterm, and 140 for the final.

Essentially 200 points or 50% is needed to pass the class with a C-. So if you do all the sapling and chemistry community points, you only need 100 points of midterm and final to pass, which is very helpful and generous.

I think you need a 50% in the class to pass with a C-, or at least that's what I've heard.

You need a 50% to pass with a C-, which is equal to 200/400 points.
