Kinetic Energy Emitted From Different Frequencies

Postby sarahpack » Mon Dec 04, 2023 7:15 pm

Hello, I am doing a review worksheet, and it asks which of the following are not true concerning the photoelectric effect. The correct answer (ie the answer that is factually wrong) says: higher frequency light always emits electrons with higher kinetic energies. I am wondering what makes this wrong because looking at the equation E=hv, there seems to be a dependent relationship. What am I missing?

higher frequency light always emits electrons with higher kinetic energies is false. Although it does eject more electrons, this does not mean there is higher kinetic energy.
