Work function

Postby 904440920 » Mon Jul 04, 2016 6:35 pm

Is my explanation correct??
Light with longer wavelength cannot eject electron from metal surface because it doesn't have the enough energy to reach work function

I am not sure what problem or question you are trying to answer, but work function is same thing as the threshold energy required to remove the electron from the metal surface.

I understand what you're saying and you are correct because since you have a longer wavelength you have less energy. And if E(photon)<(work function the electron) then the electron will not eject.
