Wavelength Intensity

Postby Lyndon_Bui_3J » Wed Oct 05, 2016 12:31 am

Why does increasing the intensity of light after surpassing the threshold energy eject more electrons from the metal?

I think it's because, at threshold energy, one photon ejects one electron (there's never 2+ photons needed to eject one electron or one photon ejecting 2+ electrons), and intensity of light is proportional to the number of photons in that light. So increasing the intensity of light hitting a metal surface is also increasing the number of photons hitting that metal surface, which is allowing more electrons to be ejected based off that 1 photon/1 electron ratio.

Pretty sure this is it, but sorry in advance if I'm wrong.
