Question from online assessment

Postby Rita Dang 3D » Sat Oct 07, 2017 11:19 pm

The question asks "in photoelectric experiments, typically what part of the electromagnetic spectrum is the incoming light?"

I know the answer is Ultraviolet. But why?

The light from the UV range of the electromagnetic spectrum tends to have higher frequencies which means the photons have more energy to overcome the threshold energy of the metal.
