Hey all, can someone tell me what the right answer and why fro #24? I tried answering visible light but it was incorrect.
In photoelectric experiments, typically what part of the electromagnetic spectrum is the incoming light?

A. Ultraviolet

B. Infrared

C. Visible light

D. Gamma rays

E. None of the above

I believe the answer is UV! If I'm not mistaken, ultraviolet radiation is used because it has a short wavelength (high frequency), which means it has a higher energy per photon (E=hv). Even with low intensity light, it can eject electrons from the surface.

The answer is Ultraviolet light. I think that one of the reason is because ultraviolet light has a relatively small wavelength, which results in high frequency. As we have learned, high frequency results in high energy. Therefore, more electrons were able to be transmitted under ultraviolet light. Due to this relationship, most elements have threshold frequencies in the UV region.

The answer is UV because that part of the spectrum has a small wavelength with high frequency. And we know that high frequency allows for electrons to be ejected from the surface.
