Other Sources of energy

Postby 305174946 » Tue Oct 09, 2018 1:05 am

In the photoelectric experiment shown to us in class the source of energy was light. Could another source of energy be used and produce the same or similar outcomes (a similar amount of electrons emitted)?

Light is the most general form through which photons are transmitted. The only necessity for electrons to be emitted from the metal is that they are struck with a ray of a particular FREQUENCY of energy. If that can be transmitted through mediums other than light, then yes. But light is the most classical method through which these frequencies are sent.
