How is the intensity of a wave/light source measured?
Also, for our purposes, how are we defining "energy"?

The intensity of a source of light is the number of protons that come from the source. This is different from the energy of the light wave, which is dependent on the frequency of the wave, hence the equation: E=hv.

Put in other words, the intensity of a wave is also measured by its amplitude.

The intensity of a light source is measured as the square of the amplitude of the wave, which is the height above the centerline of light waves.

The intensity of a light source can be determined by looking at the amplitude of the wave, whereas the energy of the light wave can be determined using the equation E = h*v (E is energy in Joules, h is Planck's constant, and v is velocity of the wave).
