What does it mean for variables to be 'quantized' or 'discrete'?

I think it means that they must be whole numbers like 1,2,3,4 not 1.2 or 2.4. They cannot be continuous.

Actually, it means they are specific numbers not continuous.

They have to be in integer values like n=1,2,3 and it means that it is the smallest transferrable unit I think.

It's like Lavelle described in lecture, we assume water flowing from a facet in continuous but when we zoom in and reduce the flow, eventually gaps begin to form because you're not going to have half a water molecule so to be quantized refers to minimal whole values (n = 1,2,3...)
