Light hits a sodium metal surface and the velocity of the ejected electron is 6.61 x 10^5 m.s^-1. The work function for sodium is 150.6 kJ.mol^-1. What is the kinetic energy of the ejected electron?
a) 3.01 x 10^25 J
b) 3.98 x 10^-19 J
c) 7.96 x 10^-19 J
d) 1.99 x 10^-19 J
How do you calculate the kinetic energy and what equation would you use?

Kinetic Energy = 1/2 mv^2

But since the question gives you the work function there is another equation that uses both which is
kinetic energy = energy of photon - work function (energy required to remove photon
