Experimental specifics
How important is it to know the exact experimental setup for this experiment? Do we need to know anything aside from the fact that photons were shot at a metal surface and the kinetic energies of the ejected electrons measured?

The photoelectric effect proved that light can act as particles! This was really a revolutionizing discovery about light. So just also know that this experiment contributes to the particle part of the wave-particle duality of light!
