How to find my posts

Postby Chem_Mod » Tue Jan 10, 2017 9:35 pm

Hello professor,
I posted a question to chemistry community yesterday however I am unsure how to check to see if anyone has replied to it or how to find my original question. I was wondering if you could tell me. Thank you.

There are several ways.

One is look in the topic section of your post.

Another is click on your user ID and then click on "Search user’s posts" and all your posts are listed.
Then click on your post of interest to see subsequent posts by others.

How do I create a new post? All I know is how to "Post Reply". Also, how do I change my username to include this quarter's discussion section and not the old one from last quarter in 14A?

To change your username, go to the main page or any page on chemistry community, and at the top next to "Quick Links" and "FAQ" there's a link that says "Register Alias and Password (Only available to students enrolled in Dr. Lavelle's classes.)" and that will direct you to a page for changing your username. You would input your name and discussion section next to "Register Alias." Hope that helps.

If you want to create a new post, you would click on a sub topic located on the board index under 14B. You can then click "New Topic" in the upper left hand corner (under the subtopic name)

I believe you can also just search your username in the search bar and any of your posts/threads you added on to should show up! Let me know if that works for you guys.

Anything that Professor Lavelle posts (other than answers to questions) can be seen in the announcements section. It's also important to note that he sends out any important information by email and announces it in class as well.

You can go to "Quick Links" in the top left corner then press "your posts" and it will take you to all of your posts and you can select the one you want. It also shows you how many people have viewed it and responded to it on the right side.

How can I create a new topic? The only way CC allows me to post is if I am replying in an existing thread, but I have some questions where I would want to create a new topic.

I think you have to use sub topic to create a new topic.

I just want to be clear, so there is no way to get notifications if Professor Lavelle has posted anything?

Class Announcements is the place the look to see if Lavelle has posted something. If it is super important though, he will probably just mention it in lecture.

If you go to the words "Quick links" in the upper left corner, the drop down will provide you with the option "Your posts" and they are all organized there.

If you click on your account it should show you your post. Also if you had replied to someone there is a section that shows you how many times you have posted. If you click that it will should you all of your posts.

I believer you can have email notifications, but I'm not sure how practical that would be.

After you post you can also see the number of posts you have made next to your ID if you need to keep track.

the quick links tab works best for me and it gives you the number of posts you put up and the comments people wrote after you.

Hi, I was wondering how I can post a question on my own topic? I'm not quite sure how this works. I can only find the way of posting a reply (like I am doing now) but I am unsure how to create my own post with questions. I would appreciate if someone can help. Thanks! :)

If you want to create a new post, you would click on a sub topic located on the board index under 14B.
You can then click "New Topic" in the upper left hand corner (under the subtopic name).

You have to be reading a specific sub-topic to be able to create a "New Topic".

If new posts were allowed anywhere then how would the software know where (under a specific topic and sub-topic) to post it.

From my understanding, Dr. Lavelle hasn't commented on where to retrieve any of the lecture power points. Your best bet will be to neatly write them out and taking a picture. Or if you do not have them ask someone who has taken great notes on the week's lecture you need!

Whenever you post something, there is a box on the right side of your post that has your information on it. Next to your name, there should be a number. By clicking that number, you can see all your posts, questions and replies, and can easily access all of your old work.

Hi Jamie, I feel the same way and I am gradually getting used to the format of this website and one thing that helped me skip a couple of steps when I want to click on a recent post is to go over to the right side of the home page where the last post is and click on the little icon that has a small white page and a little arrow. This takes you directly to the post and it is much easier than if you click on the left side where the general topic is. Hopefully this helps.

The quickest way is to click on "quick links" on the upper-left side and click on "Your post". Also, you can reply to one post, and on the right-hand side of your post, you can see your brief information with the number of your posts.

I think endorse means one of the moderators thought that the answer someone gave was a very good answer, so they endorsed it so students would refer to that answer.

All you have to do is click on "Quick links" on the top left, then go to "your posts." You can filter it so that you check what posts you made within a select time frame.

One of the easiest ways is to go to the quick links section at the top left near FAQ. Hitting it will open a drop down with a couple of different links with one of them being your posts.

To find your own posts just quick on quick links at the top of the page and then "your posts" and it shows them all in the order you posted.

Is there any way to search the contents of a post? For example if there aren't any posts on a certain problem that I can find with the subject name, can a search direct me to the next closest thing?

I usually go on "Quick links" on the top left hand corner, and when you click on it, you should have options for which posts to look at. The first one says "your posts," so click on that to find your posts! :)

Press “quick links” on the top left hand corner of your screen. Then the second option will say “your posts”. Click on that and it will give you the full history of all your posts.

I tap on the profile on the top right, click on user control panel, go to overview, then access my posts on "Show my posts" on the very bottom of the page.

I went to "Your posts", but there are only the groups by topic although I posted more than once in a group. Is there a way to see all my individual posts?

This is what I usually do but I think we can use quick links on the top right hand corner of the website. I'm not so sure if this was here during 14A as well...

Does anyone else have a problem when logging into Chemistry Community where you have to re-register each time you sign-in?

I haven't had that issue so far, maybe you could click the "Remember me" option when you log in?

You can find your posts my clicking on "Quick Links" and then "Your Posts." Sometimes, there is some discrepancy with the number of times you've actually posted and the displayed number, so be sure to double - check and refresh the page often.

I tried doing this and I keep getting the same message. I'll have to look into it more.

That should not be the case, perhaps you should try saving your username and password on your device so that you can automatically be logged in when you open the site.

I would suggest going to the tab that says new posts and scrolling through those because those are categorized by the time of the last person who posted or commented on the question. Also you can go to the search tab under quick links and search up the topic you have a question on.

You can maybe try typing their name in the search bar if you know who specifically you're looking for?

Re-register as in your account wasn't created? Or do you mean your account doesn't exist and you have keep creating a new one?

At the right side of your post/reply, it tells you how many posts you have currently so you can just work around that number.

At the top click on Quick links and then there should be a drop down menu where you can find your posts.

I also have this problem. I have not been able to log back into my account after I am away from the computer or close the chemistry community tab. I followed the instructions to "register alias and password" but do not seem to be remembered by the system after I leave, so I have just re-registered each time I had to log in. I haven't yet tried re-registering since I have posted, so I am slightly concerned that my previous posts won't be connected to my account when I have to log back in later to check on my posts/make new posts.
