How to find my posts

Hello professor,
I posted a question to chemistry community yesterday however I am unsure how to check to see if anyone has replied to it or how to find my original question. I was wondering if you could tell me. Thank you.

There are several ways.

One is look in the topic section of your post.

Another is click on your user ID and then click on "Search user’s posts" and all your posts are listed.
Then click on your post of interest to see subsequent posts by others.

How do I create a new post? All I know is how to "Post Reply". Also, how do I change my username to include this quarter's discussion section and not the old one from last quarter in 14A?

To change your username, go to the main page or any page on chemistry community, and at the top next to "Quick Links" and "FAQ" there's a link that says "Register Alias and Password (Only available to students enrolled in Dr. Lavelle's classes.)" and that will direct you to a page for changing your username. You would input your name and discussion section next to "Register Alias." Hope that helps.

If you want to create a new post, you would click on a sub topic located on the board index under 14B. You can then click "New Topic" in the upper left hand corner (under the subtopic name)

Is there anyway to receive notifications if Prof Lavelle posted?

Anything that Professor Lavelle posts (other than answers to questions) can be seen in the announcements section. It's also important to note that he sends out any important information by email and announces it in class as well.

You can go to "Quick Links" in the top left corner then press "your posts" and it will take you to all of your posts and you can select the one you want. It also shows you how many people have viewed it and responded to it on the right side.

How can I create a new topic? The only way CC allows me to post is if I am replying in an existing thread, but I have some questions where I would want to create a new topic.

I just want to be clear, so there is no way to get notifications if Professor Lavelle has posted anything?

Class Announcements is the place the look to see if Lavelle has posted something. If it is super important though, he will probably just mention it in lecture.

Hi, I was wondering how I can post a question on my own topic? I'm not quite sure how this works. I can only find the way of posting a reply (like I am doing now) but I am unsure how to create my own post with questions. I would appreciate if someone can help. Thanks! :)

If you want to create a new post, you would click on a sub topic located on the board index under 14B.
You can then click "New Topic" in the upper left hand corner (under the subtopic name).

You have to be reading a specific sub-topic to be able to create a "New Topic".

If new posts were allowed anywhere then how would the software know where (under a specific topic and sub-topic) to post it.

From my understanding, Dr. Lavelle hasn't commented on where to retrieve any of the lecture power points. Your best bet will be to neatly write them out and taking a picture. Or if you do not have them ask someone who has taken great notes on the week's lecture you need!

Whenever you post something, there is a box on the right side of your post that has your information on it. Next to your name, there should be a number. By clicking that number, you can see all your posts, questions and replies, and can easily access all of your old work.

Is there a way to more easily navigate this community? The number of channels is helpful, but a little overwhelming sometimes.

Hi Jamie, I feel the same way and I am gradually getting used to the format of this website and one thing that helped me skip a couple of steps when I want to click on a recent post is to go over to the right side of the home page where the last post is and click on the little icon that has a small white page and a little arrow. This takes you directly to the post and it is much easier than if you click on the left side where the general topic is. Hopefully this helps.

I think endorse means one of the moderators thought that the answer someone gave was a very good answer, so they endorsed it so students would refer to that answer.

I would suggest going to the tab that says new posts and scrolling through those because those are categorized by the time of the last person who posted or commented on the question. Also you can go to the search tab under quick links and search up the topic you have a question on.

I also have this problem. I have not been able to log back into my account after I am away from the computer or close the chemistry community tab. I followed the instructions to "register alias and password" but do not seem to be remembered by the system after I leave, so I have just re-registered each time I had to log in. I haven't yet tried re-registering since I have posted, so I am slightly concerned that my previous posts won't be connected to my account when I have to log back in later to check on my posts/make new posts.
