Final Grades
Hey so does anyone know how the grading in this class is done. Is the class curved or is there a specific rubric. I've been asking around but still can't seem to find out.

Re: Final Grades
I'm not 100% sure but I think the class is just graded on that rubric and not curved.

If you get at least 250 points, you're guaranteed a C-. I believe Dr. Lavelle said he would work out the specific letter grade/point distributions after the final?

Re: Final Grades
I think the final grades will be curbed based on the averages for the midterms, quizzes, and finals. So if the average for the midterm was an 83, the highest score would probably set this curve and anyone below this would actually have gotten less than what they got.

Re: Final Grades
Its based off of a point system overall, but there is a note on the syllabus that says a 50% is a C- (which would typically be a 70%), so I think the class is curved overall to the letter grade at the end. I'm assuming it can only help and not hurt you because its not a competetive scaling or anything.

Re: Final Grades
The class isn't based on a curve of our own class, but all the classes before us. This means that he has taken the averages from previous classes and uses them as a guideline for how grades should be set

Re: Final Grades
I'm pretty sure there isn't a curve for this class and that it's based on a point system. However, if you do get 50% (250/500 points), then this is the exception to earning a C-. He mentioned this in lecture once.
