Study Guide Test One

Postby Kate Swertfager » Wed Jan 15, 2020 8:20 am

Will there be a study guide given for test one? Or even just a practice test?

I don't think so, but the outlines are good resources to use while studying!

I don't think so. It is probably best to review/redo the homework problems on the syllabus.

Probably not. I suggest redoing hw problems or other unassigned problems from the book

Use these Learning Outcomes to prepare for Test 1:

Outline 1: Chemical Equilibrium https://lavelle.chem.ucla.edu/wp-conten ... ibrium.pdf

Outline 2: Acids and Bases https://lavelle.chem.ucla.edu/wp-conten ... _Bases.pdf

Some of the UA's also give out review sheets during their Peer Learning sessions.

There isn't one given out, but it is good to base your studying on the learning outcomes for the sections.

I don't believe so but it's useful to rely on the learning outcomes and base your studying on the areas you need the most practice on

There are probably not, but it is best to practice the homework questions since one might pop up on the actual test and for extra practice, outside problems that you can find online.

there is no study guide, however the hw is a good idea of what to expect for test questions

There is no study guide but I really recommend doing HW problems and going over the notes from lecture. Additionally, you could look at the video modules on his website and do the assessments that come with those cause they have more practice problems.

There's no study guide, but for 14A with Dr. Lavelle I found it was very helpful to do all the practice problems on the syllabus for the sections we would be tested on. For test 1 I believe those are the first two sections.

Does test one only cover these two Learning Outcomes?

This is one of the announcements posted on the Chem 14B class website: "Test 1 covers Equilibrium and Acid & Base Equilibria."

I do not think that there will be a study guide for test one, but Professor Lavelle said that the extra problems that he put on the outlines are good practice.

Although there is no practice test or study review for Test 1, I highly recommend completing all of the homework problems to make sure you can answer and understand all of them and make sure you can explain all the concepts in the outlines. I also recommend going to UA sessions because they provide more practice problems if you need extra help.

No, Lavelle does not make study guides or practice tests. He makes outlines that tell you what you should be able to do and understand. test one will be on outline 1 on Chemical Equilibrium & outline 2 on Acid and Base Equilibria.

Your best resources are probably the 2 Outlines as well as the Peer Learning and Step Up sessions.
