Best Way To Study?
Hi, here's a question for those who have had Lavelle previously: what method of studying for exams did you find most effective? Doing all of the assigned textbook problems or sapling problems or other things? Thanks for sharing :)

Re: Best Way To Study?
Hi, I usually look over all my lecture notes and do as many practice problems from the textbook that I can.

Re: Best Way To Study?
I found the UA learning sessions to be the most helpful to prepare for the tests. It is also beneficial to do as many of the homework problems as you can.

I personally also look through the lecture notes and examples that we have done during class. With some of the math problems like Ka calculation and so on, you would like to try doing some practice problems from the book he assigned; however, majority, as the person before stated, I tend to study off of lecture notes.

the examples done in lectures are the most accurate representations of what show up in exams. Make sure you thoroughly understand the concepts behind each example so that you are able to recognize what steps to take when you encounter a similar problem on an exam.

Re: Best Way To Study?
the best way to study i have found is to do all the hw problems and to go over the learning objectives. Also, go through your notes, but definitely apply the concepts to problems.
Re: Best Way To Study?
Going to UA sessions help out a lot! Doing the assigned book problems ahead of time can help with the tests too.

Re: Best Way To Study?
Doing all the homework problems does help in terms of practice. I also got a lot of help through peer learning sessions, as they were able to give a lot more practice and were able to clear up a lot of the material.
Re: Best Way To Study?
I find making flash cards helps me understand concepts and memorize them easier.
Re: Best Way To Study?
Thank you all for so many helpful suggestions! I will definitely start looking into going to the UA sessions because I forgot those existed :)

Re: Best Way To Study?
I would definitely recommend the UA sessions. For extra practice and better understanding, I would recommend "The Organic Chemistry Tutor" on Youtube because he explains concepts in addition to working through examples. Overall, try to stay on track with the homework and understand them as you do them so that you feel ready when exams arrive. Good luck! (:

Re: Best Way To Study?
I would definitely say doing all the textbook problems and reading the textbook helps a lot. Sapling is great for review before tests and midterms, too. UA and TA sessions are great if and whenever you need help.

Re: Best Way To Study?
Sometimes the tests, including midterm and final, will include stuff that was only mentioned in lecture so I would pay attention to what diagrams or specific examples were in the lecture notes as well.
