You could probably find the Logitech C270 for around $30 after taxes, assuming you are in California. It's not the best but if you are looking to use it for zoom calls, then it should work fine.

My TA said we can just set up our phone and join zoom a second time, but it might be different for your section. The quiz ran smoothly for us and I just propped my phone up on a mug so she could see my desk.

I think Lavelle said somewhere that if the TA has a way of seeing our workspace through zoom on your computer/laptop camera, you won't need another webcam.

Yes, that was what my TA said today! We can just use a phone, laptop, iPad, or second device to login to the zoom meeting so that they can see our hands.

If you have a phone with a camera and can download zoom on it you do not need to purchase an additional webcam. On the day of the exam, you can login onto your zoom via your phone and set it up to face your workspace while taking the test on your laptop. Also my TA said they make it so that you can keep zoom open while taking the test on your laptop and if your laptop has a camera then no extra devices would be needed.

Amazon is probably your best option, especially with quick shipping and the ability to read customer reviews to determine which webcam is the best. Depending on the quality of the webcam, they usually range from about $15 to $30!

I also recommend Amazon, that is where I got mine. I looked for an affordable HD webcam and amazon usually has the recommended ones at the top broken up into best budget or best quality, etc.

Hey! I have quite a big laptop so when I tilted the screen and put the laptop to the right or left of me, I was able to see my questions with only turning my head. So if you have a large enough laptop screen and you do no have the spare money for a webcam or the ability to set up a second device, try just using your internal webcam and determine if taking the test in that is too uncomfortable for you. Agreed. If you don't have a webcam sitting around your best bet would probably be your phone. I heard from students in other sections that it worked fine and there was no need to spend money if you don't want to.

I would check eBay bc everything on Amazon is bound to be more expensive, OR you could use you phone cam (and prop it up around workspace and/or your computer cam for tests. Hope this clears it up!

My TA told us that using our phone would not be acceptable but that seems to contradict what others are saying in this thread. I'm not sure if any are still available used, but it is freestanding which should make zooming during the test a cinch. It arrived today and also has good picture quality, a long cord, and even has its own lights. which is helpful as my room doesn't have great lighting. I hope this is a good review focused on our needs but if anyone has further questions don't hesitate to let me know!

You do not need to buy a webcam anymore, a phone is good enough. Log on to your zoom call through your phone, and access the midterm from your laptop and you should be fine.
