Respondus Not Starting?

Respondus Not Starting?
I opened Respondus, completed the 1 question quiz on there, closed the program, and then tried to restart the program to take the quiz a second time.
But now the program won't load? Is anyone else having this problem or know how to resolve it?

Windows and Mac versions of Respondus have a "Help Center" button located on the toolbar.
Use the "System & Network Check" to troubleshoot issues.

What worked for me was putting the Lockdown Browser into the trash and redownloading it. Let me know if that helps.

After I completed the quiz, Respondus said that I could only take one test per "lockdown browser usage", meaning that if I wanted to attempt the quiz again, I would need to exit Respondus and open it again.

I had the same thing happen but I just quit the program and restarted it and it worked fine.

I tried loading my Respondus several times in different areas on campus and was able to log in every time, although it was substantially slower when I had slightly slower internet. It still loaded after about a minute.

Are you on Windows or MacOS? Using task manager on windows to close the program as well as any chrome/discord/parsec/any communication programs may help

I suggest ensuring the downloaded zip file is thrown away and all other tabs are closed. Additionally, try quitting the program and restarting.

I would also like to add that I had issues with Respondus during the midterm where it said I needed to be on the browser to open the quiz despite me being no respondus. I ended up having to use my proctor's laptop. The issue is, I am not sure what I did wrong and how to prevent that from happening in the next exam, because when I took the pre-exam quiz it worked fine twice.

The same thing happened to me. I was able to open the respondus practice question before the midterm very easily, and I opened the question multiple times. But when I took the test, I could not get respondus to work even after re-downloading it. I would open lockdown and log into bruin learn, but I couldn't take the midterm because it said I needed lockdown browser even though I was already on it. Does anyone know how to get respondus to work for the practice question and the test?

Hello! I believe it's best if you delete respondus completely from your device and try restarting your device for about five minutes. After that, try re-downloading it again and I believe it should work. Hope this can help in the future!

I had this happen to me last fall when I took 14A, and what worked for me was closing the Lockdown browser and restarting it. For context, I have a MacBook, but this should work on any Windows device as well. Hope this helps!

What helped me was putting the downloaded file to the trash and then looking for the actual application within the apps the macbook has. After finding it, I clicked on the browser and it took me straight to the login page for bruinlearn.

I also had an issue with respondus during the midterm. It told me I needed to download it when I tried to start the midterm. What worked for me was clicking on the link to download and then going back to the first original tab on repondus and starting up the quiz.

Completely wiping respondus from the computer and redownloading it worked for me. It also helps to restart the computer.

Restarting the computer really helps, last time I had this issue as well.

I've had times where it didn't work, but force quitting the application a few times works. However, I have had one time where I had to completely redownload the application. I'm not sure there are any ways to troubleshoot this I think it's just a glitchy app, so I usually just result to doing that each time it doesn't load.

I had to make sure that I had downloaded Respondus to the right folder on my computer! It kept going straight to my desktop and wasn't available but once I made sure it went straight to my downloads on my computer it showed up under applications.

Typically when respondus is not starting I restart my entire computer and open it after closing all open applications.
