Lewis Structures needed on Midterm 1?
Hi! I have been approaching some of the textbook problems and have noticed that sometimes it is necessary/required for me to be able to draw the lewis structure of complex solutions. I was wondering if it is likely that we will have to know how to draw these lewis structures for the midterm exam in order to calculate pH or determine whether a compound is a weak or strong acid/base. Thank you!

Students need to determine whether a compound is a weak or strong acid/base.
As previously announced, see List of Acids and Bases at https://lavelle.chem.ucla.edu/wp-conten ... _Bases.pdf

Does this mean we will need to memorize the list or are you saying we will just need to be able to determine based on our own math that they will be strong or weak?

Both will work.

I do not believe that drawing lewis structures is necessary for the midterm. However, if it helps you process and understand the question then by all means you should use the structures.
