Intro to Organic Chemistry

Postby helen_bui_2G » Thu Jan 12, 2017 1:31 pm

What is the purpose of having Intro to Organic Chemistry? Is it a replacement for the textbook?

I believe it is a supplemental material, like the course reader is now, for when we start learning Organic Chemistry later in the quarter.

I've also heard it's supplemental but that we won't be using it until the last portion of the quarter since 14C is organic chemistry

I believe we will be using it later in the quarter when we begin learning about Organic Chemistry. It is a replacement for the organic chemistry textbook, but it is not a replacement for the actual textbook that we need to have for the rest of the class.

So should we be taking the green course reader to class tomorrow or the blue one we have been using?
What does Prof. Lavelle mean the green course reader when he mentioned "Organic Chemistry textbook (black & white printing)" in his email earlier today?

We should probably bring both the blue and green course readers just in case tomorrow, and then see if we need both for future lectures.

Dr. Lavelle mentioned in another post that we should continue to bring the course reader but the OChem textbook is only for additional readings and assigned problems.

Hope this helps!

Is the green course reader the same thing as what is being referred to as the ochem textbook?

Yeah for the purposes and intent of this class the green course reader is the same as the "O-chem textbook" I believe.
