Lecture Powerpoints

Postby Emily Huang 1E » Wed Jan 09, 2019 3:44 pm

Will the lecture powerpoints that are shown in class be posted on the class website?

No, powerpoints are not posted but Lavelle has other resources on his website like the audiovisual topics on the material we cover in class.

He doesn't post the lecture slides or Bruincast because he wants everyone to attend lecture as much as possible. If you miss a lecture all you can really do is ask a fellow student for the notes that you missed and take advantage of the other resources Lavelle provides.

No, they won't be accessible online. They weren't available for 14A last quarter either.

From my experience, the lecture slides are not posted anywhere. However, if you ever find yourself unable to keep up with the slides, Lavelle does have three lectures MWF that you can catch up on.

They aren't online so if you ever miss a lecture I would say to either ask a friend for their notes on the lecture or go into his office hours and ask what you topics you missed.

Would anyone be able to inform me of what we covered in lecture today 11/14?
I wasn't able to make it. Thanks in advance!

The powerpoints are not posted but the audiovisual topics tend to be almost exactly the same thing he teaches in class, even the powerpoints in the videos. There is not a video to go with each lecture, but they do cover a good portion of what he teaches in class if you missed something or need additional review or repetition.

Yea, we covered Acids and Bases Equilibria in lecture today. We reviewed basics on acids and bases from last quarter and then we learned about the Autoprotolysis constant (Kw). (autoprotolysis si the proton transfer between the same type of molecule such as between two water molecules). We learned that Kw= [H30+][OH-] = 1.0 times 10^-14. And basically if you know one of the concentrations, than using Kw and this equation, you can figure out the second. We also learned pH + pOH = 14, which is review from last quarter as well.

Hope that helped!
