Sig Figs

Postby Nare Arakelian Dis 3E » Sun Nov 10, 2019 11:39 pm

It's never been explicitly expressed, so I'm assuming that sig figs won't have any effect on grading on the test, but maybe I just missed when they said that. Are sig figs taken into account with points when grading?

It depends on the TA grading your test. Some are more lenient with sig figs while others aren't.

Some TAs don't really care about sig figs but they do say that it is best to practice having the right sig figs now since you'll eventually need to in the future.

It can't hurt to always use the correct amount of sig figs when indicating answers on an exam!

Honestly I think it depends on your TA, but just to be safe you should use the right number of sig figs.

you can lose 1-2 points for the wrong number of sig figs.

Using the correct number of sig figs could never hurt but I would assume that if you don't the loss of points would be minimal.
