Rydberg Constant

Postby hadydamaj27 » Fri Oct 27, 2023 8:49 pm

I saw on the equation sheet that R or the Rydberg constant is 3.3 x 10^15. However, in the solution for some of the textbook problems, it said that the R was 1.1 x 10^7. Why are there two different R constants? Do you use different ones in different situations?

Hi!! Rydberg's constant is different depending on what the question is asking, whether it's in Hz (3.28984x10^15 Hz) or (1.0974x10^7 m^-1) or if its in joules (2.178x10^-18 J).
