Lyman Balmer and Paschen Series

Postby 206189669 » Sat Dec 09, 2023 11:41 pm

How do the Lyman, Balmer, and Paschen series relate to the equation E = -hr/n^2? Is it a given that transitions down to n=2 are always visible light and transitions down to n=1 are always ultraviolet? Does the initial electron state matter in these cases?

When using these series with that equation, you will be given an initial electron state along with the series name. you calculate the separate energies at both of these n values and then find the difference ( Ef-Ei)
