## Can Bohr be used as Rydberg?

### Can Bohr be used as Rydberg?

I was wondering if we can use the Bohr frequency condition as the Rydberg formula, In class, Professor Lavelle said something to this effect, and I was wondering if we could avoid the Rydberg formula. I tried to do 13 with the Bohr equation and it didn't work. Please help!

Hey Kira!

I think you should become familiarized with both formulas as they each have their own subtle characteristics.

While both are used for atomic spectroscopy, Bohr's frequency condition is used to typically calculate the frequency associated with the energy difference between two energy levels (the frequency is as a result of the emission of a photon).

On the other hand, Rydberg's equation is more specific in narrowing into the exact transition between energy levels (e.g. n = 1, 2, 3...).

I think both equations go hand-in-hand and you should definitely do more practice with them!
