Bohr Frequency Equation

Postby Kellina Tran 2I » Fri Oct 13, 2017 4:07 pm

Can someone please explain to me what the Bohr frequency equation tells us? In the lecture, I heard something about two things needing to match up with each other, but I did not quite understand it. Thanks in advance!

Hi!

The primary purpose of the Bohr Frequency Equation is to model the law that states the frequency of the radiation absorbed (or emitted) during the transition from one energy level to another must equal the difference in energy divided by planck's constant. I'm not sure if that answers your question about what two things needed to match but I do remember him saying that the energy of the photon must equal the threshold energy in order for an electron to be excited.

Hope this helps!
